An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and detail-oriented Purchase Ledger Assistant to join a key client of Jenson Fisher based in Glasgow. Operating within a fast-paced and commercially driven environment, our client is looking to strengthen their finance team with the appointment of a Purchase Ledger Assistant to support the smooth running of their accounts payable function.
The Purchase Ledger Assistant will report directly into the Finance Manager and will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices and payments. You will be responsible for maintaining strong supplier relationships, upholding robust financial controls and supporting the wider finance team during busy month-end periods. As the successful candidate, you will have previous experience within an accounts payable or purchase ledger role and be able to demonstrate excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a high volume of transactions. You will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative finance function.
Although the remit of this role will be focused on purchase ledger duties, you can expect your responsibilities to include:
- Processing high volumes of purchase invoices, ensuring accurate coding and authorisation in line with company procedures.
- Matching, batching and posting invoices to the ledger in a timely manner.
- Reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies efficiently.
- Preparing and assisting with weekly and monthly payment runs.
- Maintaining accurate supplier records and handling supplier queries professionally.
- Assisting with month-end close processes including accruals and reconciliation of control accounts.
- Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc duties as required.
The Purchase Ledger Assistant will ideally have experience using accounting software and possess strong Excel skills. A methodical approach, excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise workload effectively are essential to succeed in this role.
