Description

Jenson Fisher is delighted to be working in partnership with a well positioned firm of Chartered Accountants in Fife, to recruit an experienced Qualified Accountant to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant with strong practice experience who is looking for a varied, hands-on role within a progressive and close-knit accountancy firm.

The position will suit someone who enjoys working directly with clients, taking ownership of their workload and operating within a flat and collaborative structure. In addition to managing your own portfolio, you will have the opportunity to mentor and develop colleagues and make a genuine contribution to the continued success of the practice.

The Role

As a Qualified Accountant, you will manage a varied portfolio of clients and be responsible for a broad range of accounting and taxation work.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and finalising limited company accounts.

  • Preparing corporation tax returns.

  • Preparing and reviewing LLP accounts and returns.

  • Overseeing and supporting the preparation of self-assessment tax returns.

  • Managing a portfolio of clients and ensuring deadlines are consistently achieved.

  • Liaising directly with clients to obtain information and resolve queries.

  • Reviewing financial records and identifying discrepancies or areas requiring further investigation.

  • Providing practical accounting and taxation support to clients.

  • Reviewing bookkeeping and underlying accounting records where required.

  • Supporting colleagues with technical queries.

  • Mentoring and developing more junior members of the team.

  • Reviewing work completed by colleagues and providing constructive feedback.

  • Keeping up to date with relevant accounting and taxation legislation.

  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and enhance the client experience.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally be a fully qualified accountant with previous experience gained within an accountancy practice.

You will be someone who enjoys variety and is comfortable taking a hands-on approach to your work.

We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have:

  • A recognised professional accountancy qualification or equivalent experience.

  • Strong experience within an accountancy practice.

  • Experience preparing limited company accounts.

  • Good corporation tax experience.

  • Experience with LLP accounts and returns.

  • Experience with self-assessment tax returns.

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

  • The ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines.

  • Strong communication and client relationship skills.

  • A practical and commercial approach to accounting.

  • The confidence to work independently within a relatively flat structure.

  • A genuine interest in supporting and developing colleagues.

Experience with Xero, QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel would be advantageous, although experience with other accounting and practice management systems will also be considered.

Why Choose This Role?

Our client offers a working environment that is increasingly difficult to find within the accountancy practice market. The firm operates with a flat structure, meaning that experienced professionals have the opportunity to take ownership, work closely with clients and make a visible contribution to the business.

You will be joining a supportive team where your experience will be valued and where there is scope to broaden your responsibilities, develop colleagues and build strong long-term client relationships.

For an accountant who enjoys autonomy, variety and responsibility, this is an excellent opportunity to progress your career within an established Fife practice.
