Description

Jenson Fisher is delighted to bring to market the position of Company Accountant at Goodfellows of Dundee Ltd. The primary function of this role is to ensure that all accounting functions pertaining to the operation of all Group Companies are carried out accurately and timeously. The Company Accountant will work alongside the Office Manager and report into the Managing Director of the business and play a pivotal role in the continued success of Goodfellow & Steven.

About Goodfellows of Dundee Ltd
Established in 1897, Goodfellow & Steven is a family business renowned for delivering excellent pies, pastries, cakes and celebration cakes – initially through bakeries before developing into tea rooms and supply to retail outlets including Co-op and Scotmid stores. With baking in the family since at least the 1700s, many of their recipes have remained the same throughout the duration and Goodfellow & Steven are proud to maintain the quality of products and service to the same high standard.

Fast-forward to 2025 and Goodfellow & Steven are a £6m turnover business, employing over 130 members of staff whilst continuing to thrive in the areas in which they operate.

Company Accountant – Key Responsibilities
• Management accounts including variance analysis.
• Preparation of year end accounts.
• Payroll including year end HMRC submissions.
• Preparation of P11Ds.
• Stock Control.
• Bank Reconciliations and cashbook management.
• Nominal Ledger Reconciliations.
• VAT.
• Financial Management and Cashflow.
• Cost Analysis of Supermarket Sales.
• Inter-company reconciliations.
• Managing business insurance and utility contacts
• Maintenance of macros in spreadsheets.
• Property Administration.
• Maintenance of Asset Ledger.
• Pension Reconciliations.
• Company Secretarial and preparation of national statistics.
• Land Valuation and Rental Returns.
• Negotiation of Banking Annual Fees and Charges.
• Consistently improving processes and procedures, implementing new systems as required.
• Assist the Managing Director with the creation of Budgets. 

Knowledge, skills and experience required
• Significant experience in a finance management role, preferably within the private sector for an SME business.
• Full accounting qualification (ACCA/CA/CIMA) or experience to render you QBE.
• Strong experience utilising financial software is essential.
• Possession of excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• First class communication and interpersonal skills.
• High levels of integrity and attention to detail.
