Jenson Fisher is delighted to be retained by Horsecross Arts in Perth to recruit a new Head of Finance into the organisation on a permanent, full time basis. This role will be based in Perth city centre at the state-of-the-art Perth Concert Hall.

Horsecross Arts – A Background

Horsecross is the creative organisation and charity that runs Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre. Perth Theatre reopened following major refurbishment in December 2017 whilst Perth Concert Hall is a major Scottish performance venue with 1,200 seat capacity presenting an eclectic programme with something for everyone. We are here to create a buzz; to inspire, entertain, surprise and delight.

Head of Finance – Role Profile

You will deliver an effective financial management service to the organisation including strong budget management and control, effective financial procedures and processes are followed; ensuring accurate and timely management information is provided to Board, CEO and Senior Management; and working closely with the CEO and Senior Management Team (SMT) to manage the organisation’s resources. You will also oversee HR and venue management functions.

As Head of Finance you will form a key part of the SMT, strategically leading the Finance function and reporting to the Chief Executive. You will line manage the Finance Team Leader, Contracts & Settlements Administrator, HR Administrator and Venues Manager and will work closely with all departments supporting SMT and Management Budget holders appropriately.

Your primary place of work will be Perth Concert Hall and you will be required to attend Board Meetings, Board Sub-Committees and meetings with major funders and stakeholders as required.

As the Head of Finance, your responsibilities will include;

  • Lead monthly and quarterly management accounting process across the organisation.
  • Implement and develop accurate forecasting to ensure a clear tracking of income and expenditure, working with the CEO on variances as required.
  • Lead on preparation of annual accounts and statutory reporting.
  • Produce regular financial reports for CEO, Board and major funders to support with management decision making and performance monitoring.
  • Oversee quarterly VAT process.
  • Leading of the finance and administrative teams within the organisation.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Continuous review of financial management, processes, procedures and controls.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Working closely with budget holders to ensure best financial practice throughout the organisation.
  • Project accounting across the organisation.
  • Liaise with CEO on organisation-wide budget performance.
  • Function successfully as a valued member of the Senior Management Team.

To be considered for this role you must be in possession of a full UK recognised professional accountancy qualification (ACCA, CA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent) with significant post qualifying experience including financial accounting, management accounting and statutory reporting. You must consider yourself a confident, self-starter with the ability to demonstrate a sound technical knowledge of financial and business matters including VAT, tax and financial analysis.
