Jenson Fisher are engaged on a retained basis by Scott & Fyfe, an employee-owned business based in Tayport, to recruit a Financial Controller as a result of continued and sustained business growth.

Financial Controller – Role Profile

As the Financial Controller for this successful and profitable SME, you will successfully engage not only with the wider finance team but also with other department managers and colleagues. You will be in possession of a full accounting qualification (ACCA, CA, CIMA or equivalent) and possess the relevant post-qualifying experience within industry.

In this hands-on role, you must be able to demonstrate an experience of succeeding in a position which has required you to display strong statutory and monthly reporting experience. In addition, you will be able to work with your team to ensure that transactional reporting deadlines are achieved consistently.

The main duties of the Financial Controller will include;

  • Creation, analysis and presentation of monthly management accounts.
  • Preparation, maintenance and support of product cost models.
  • Providing margin analysis profiled by product / customer.
  • Production of income and expenditure reports.
  • Preparation of budgets and forecasts and working with the Senior Management Team (SMT) on same.
  • Providing support to the Board regarding other finance papers and presentations.
  • Project accounting including Capital project appraisal and monitoring.
  • Preparation of annual statutory accounts and further required information for the auditors.
  • Preparing information to allow the submission of corporation tax returns; and computations.
  • Preparing HMRC returns including VAT, PAYE, EC Sales List etc.
  • Oversee transactional function including accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
  • Driving working capital improvements by supporting and challenging the business on cash generation.
  • Management of bank transactions and monitoring company cash position.
  • Oversee and manage Credit Control processes including credit checks and credit limits etc.
  • Providing pension provider with relevant information and arrange monthly payments.
  • Providing information and support relating to Employee Share Purchase and Sales.
  • Function successfully as a valued member of the Senior Management Team.

Applications are sought from individuals with a strong commercial background and experience working within the SME space in a key financial role. You must consider yourself commercial in your approach and be able to support the future success of the business with an excellent financial grounding. Strong experience using Microsoft Excel is essential and use of Sage 200 would be advantageous although not critical.
